At Next Door Tutoring, we tailor each session to address the unique needs of every student, focusing on the areas where growth and improvement are needed most. Founded in 2022, our mission has been to provide a budget-friendly tutoring option for all learners—from kindergarten through college—making personalized education both accessible and impactful. By developing instruction tailored to each student’s unique learning style, our tutors are committed to helping learners reach their goals and achieve long term academic success.

Our team of experienced educators and subject matter experts is dedicated to helping students unlock their full potential in a supportive, encouraging, and nurturing learning environment. We proudly support learners at every stage, including college students, ensuring each individual receives the guidance they need to succeed.

We offer in-person tutoring throughout Sarasota and Manatee County, Florida, as well as online tutoring services nationwide, allowing us to support students across the United States.


Nicole Spence
Founder and Tutor
​Our team is led by Nicole Spence, a certified Special Education teacher with an extensive background in the field. Nicole holds certifications in ESE K through 12, Reading K through 12, and Elementary Education Pre K through 3rd grade.
She was nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2024 and has a lifelong passion for working with students with diverse learning needs. Nicole discovered her love for teaching at a young age and began working with students with special needs while she was still in middle school.​We believe in taking the time to truly understand each learner’s individual strengths and challenges.
Meet The Team

Amanda M
I bring over 20 years of experience in education, working with students from Pre K through college, including seven years as a principal and four years as a director. I am certified in Educational Leadership, Elementary Education, ESOL, ESE K through 12, Gifted K through 12, and Reading K through 12, and I currently serve as a principal at a local school. My instructional approach focuses on making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful, while building confidence and long term academic success. I am currently available for online tutoring in test preparation, including FAST, ACT, SAT, FTCE, GED, and additional assessments as needed.

Amanda G
I’m certified in Elementary Education (K–6) and ESE (K–12), and I currently work in a district role with the Sarasota County School Board, where I’ve been for the past 6 years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I tutor students from Pre-K to 8th grade in Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Science, and Math. I’m flexible with scheduling and available online or in person at Selby, Fruitville, Gulf Gate, and Newtown libraries.

Olivia V.
Hi, I’m Olivia. I am currently a Kindergarten teacher at Family Life Community School with seven years of experience teaching Kindergarten and six years of experience in Manatee County Schools. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education and am certified in ESOL, ESE K-12, Elementary Education, and Reading K through 12. I provide tutoring for Kindergarten through 6th grade across all subjects, as well as reading support for students Kindergarten through 12th grade. I am available for online tutoring and for in person sessions at Rocky Bluff Library.

Raju
I am an experienced tutor with a background in Chemical Engineering from IIT Chicago and over 15 years of professional experience at ExxonMobil. While working in engineering and management, I discovered my passion for helping students succeed in Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry. After more than a decade in IT project management, I now focus full time on tutoring. I offer personalized, one on one lessons in Algebra, Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics, delivered online through Lesson Space, where I make complex STEM concepts clear, engaging, and approachable.

Dr. Susan Nozell
I’m Susan, and I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Clemson University and a Ph.D. from the Medical College of Georgia. I am currently completing a Master’s degree in Teaching at Augusta University. With over 25 years of experience, I am passionate about helping students build confidence and success in math and science. I offer online tutoring sessions for learners of all ages, including college level students, and focus on making complex concepts clear, engaging, and approachable.

Suzan
I’ve been tutoring Language Arts in Lakewood Ranch for over 10 years, specializing in writing, reading, and grammar for K–12 students. I help students improve test scores on the BEST, FAST, SAT, and ACT exams.
I previously taught at McIntosh Middle School and earned my teaching degree from Lesley University in Massachusetts. I’m available at the Lakewood Ranch and Fruitville libraries. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy traveling, exercising, and playing the piano.

I am a certified Elementary Education teacher with eight years of classroom experience and currently teach in Manatee County Schools. I am passionate about helping students build strong academic foundations, gain confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning. I’m a Dual Language ESE teacher in Sarasota with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. I’m certified in Gifted, Bilingual (Spanish), ESOL, and ESE education. I tutor Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish for all ages. I’m available online or at the Fruitville, Braden River, or Lakewood Ranch libraries.

Luciana
I’m a dual language paraprofessional in Sarasota, originally from Argentina. I began my career as a PE teacher and nutrition coach, and continued my passion for teaching after moving to the U.S., working in early childhood education and now at Dreamers Academy.
I love helping students overcome challenges and grow. My cross-cultural background gives me a unique perspective on learning and how to support success. I’m available at Gulf Gate, Selby, Sarasota County, and Betty J. Johnson libraries.

Karen
I’m a certified Reading Specialist with a Master’s in Learning Disabilities and 35 years of experience teaching ESE and Reading for grades K–5. I use proven programs like Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Reading to build core skills such as phonological awareness, chunking, word families, and syllabication. I’m available at the Rocky Bluff Library and passionate about helping students become confident, independent learners.

Ally G
I'm currently an ESE Paraprofessional working in Sarasota County, certified in K-6 Elementary Education and K-12 ESE. I hold a Bachelor's degree from State College of Florida and am loving every minute of my new career working with children. My experience in an AlMs classroom last year helped me discover my passion for ESE, and I hope to become a lead teacher. I currently tutor both ESE and General Education students in grades K–4 in the Fruitville and Gulf Gate areas, in any subject.

Nicolette
I’ve been teaching since 2019, specializing in Social Sciences and English for grades 6–12. With a law degree and legal background, I bring a unique perspective to my lessons. I offer personalized tutoring in reading, writing, and social studies for Pre-K–12, and math for Pre-K–3. I'm available at Rocky Bluff, Braden River, Lakewood Ranch libraries, and online.

I’m a dedicated educator with 25+ years of experience. I’ve taught in Montessori and traditional settings across Sarasota County, including Venice Middle, Heron Creek Middle, and Woodland Middle. I’ve taught Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Drama, and Choir, and I focus on creating a comfortable, safe, and engaging learning environment. I tutor all subjects for grades 5–8 at Fruitville, Gulf Gate, and Venice libraries, as well as online.

I’m currently pursuing a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) at LECOM. I hold an M.S. in Medical Science, a B.S. in Biology, and an A.A. Driven by a lifelong goal to practice medicine, I’m passionate about helping others reach their goals and continually expanding my knowledge. I offer online tutoring in Biology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Histology, Immunology, Molecular & Cellular Biology, and PBL courses. I’m Amrin, a medical student at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine – Bradenton with a Bachelor’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences. I’m a Museum Education professional with a background in English Literature and Art History (UF B.A.; Durham University M.A.). I have over six years of experience working with students of all ages. I taught preschool for 2.5 years and worked with middle schoolers through the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, along with four years of personal tutoring for friends and family. My teaching style is patient, engaging, and student-centered. I focus on building confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning by tailoring each lesson to each student’s needs. I’m a current medical student at LECOM Bradenton pursuing my D.O. degree. I also hold a B.S. in Biology with minors in Chemistry, Medical Humanities, and Business Administration. I have over two years of experience tutoring ACT/SAT prep and supporting high school and college students both online and in person. Kaylee G
I’m a certified teacher with 10 years of experience teaching elementary students in both New York and Florida. I hold a bachelor’s degree in ESOL and a master’s degree in Literacy, and I specialize in supporting students with language and literacy needs. I’m passionate about helping young learners build confidence, overcome reading challenges, and reach their personal best. I tutor students in grades K–5 in reading and English language acquisition, with availability during the day and after school, both online and at the Rocky Bluff Library.

I’m a K–12 certified teacher with over 18 years of experience, including 16 years teaching in the Philippines and more than two years with Orange County Public Schools. I have a strong academic background in both English and Math and am passionate about helping students grow academically and emotionally. I support every learner with patience, care, and high expectations. I offer K–12 tutoring during the day and after school at the Lakewood Ranch Library, providing convenient in-person support for students and families.

Lisa A
I’m a local ESE teacher with Sarasota County and over ten years of experience supporting students with diverse learning needs. I hold a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and am trained in Orton-Gillingham. I specialize in building strong foundational reading skills while boosting confidence and motivation.
I meet students where they are academically and emotionally, providing individualized, supportive instruction that helps them grow and feel successful. I currently tutor K–8 ELA and K–5 math at Selby Library, Betty Johnson Library, and online.

Amelia
I’m a Sarasota native and experienced math and statistics tutor. I’m a proud Pine View graduate and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics with a minor in Mathematics, along with a Master’s degree earned abroad. I’ve worked with students from kindergarten through college and love helping them reach those “aha” moments when concepts finally click. I offer in-person math tutoring for K–college students at the Fruitville and Gulf Gate Libraries, as well as online. I also provide ACT and SAT math preparation both in person and virtually.

I’m a certified educator with experience in both elementary and special education. I work with students in grades K–6, supporting reading, writing, math, and homework help.

I’m a certified elementary teacher with over 23 years of experience teaching students in Texas. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, a master’s in Early Childhood Education, and I’m nearly finished with my Ed.D. in Education Administration from Texas A&M Commerce. I have extensive experience in literacy and math instruction, and I’m ESL certified in Texas. I’ve spent over 20 years teaching in inclusive classrooms, supporting diverse learners and meeting their individual needs. I’m passionate about helping students become literate, lifelong learners and love seeing them truly enjoy learning. I’m available virtually after school hours, in the evenings, and on weekends. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, my children, and my four dogs.

I completed the International Baccalaureate program at Riverview High School and recently graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations. I’ve mentored middle and high school students from underrepresented backgrounds as they explored and pursued their post-secondary goals, and I have experience tutoring both Spanish- and English-speaking students in subjects like language arts and math. I offer both online and in-person tutoring in geometry, language arts, reading, social studies, biology, and K–8 math. I aspire to become a lawyer, and in my free time, I enjoy spending time with my younger brothers, journaling, and reading.

I bring 48 years of teaching experience and have worked with students from kindergarten through fourth grade throughout my career. For the past two years, I have supported students with diverse learning needs in the ESE department at Freedom Elementary School in Manatee County. I have experience using the Orton-Gillingham approach and other structured, multisensory methods to strengthen reading, math, and language skills. My goal is to create engaging, personalized learning experiences that help each student succeed.I am available for tutoring at the Lakewood Ranch Library. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time at the beach and with my family.

Hollie
I am an experienced educator with a background teaching middle school and junior high English Language Arts and Social Studies. Before entering the classroom, I worked as a director for the Boys & Girls Club, where I developed a passion for mentoring and supporting young people. I love working one-on-one with students and helping them build confidence in reading, writing, and critical thinking. One of my favorite parts of teaching is helping students discover a love for literature and poetry while finding their own voice as readers and writers. I am available for in-person tutoring in Venice, Englewood, and North Port. Outside of teaching, I enjoy riding bikes to the beach with my husband and daughter.

I earned my degree in Early Childhood Education from Kent State University in 2023 and have experience teaching 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade students. My passion for education began in high school while shadowing my aunt and has continued to grow throughout my teaching career. I enjoy helping students build confidence, grow academically, and discover that learning can be both fun and rewarding. I work with K–5 students and tailor my support to help each child reach their individual goals. I am available for tutoring online and in person at Island Branch Library, South Manatee Library, Central Library, and Tingley Memorial Library. Outside of teaching, I enjoy taking long walks with my dog, Goose, and spending time at the beach.

I am a former AP Pre-Calculus teacher with a passion for helping students succeed by seeing the bigger picture. I hold bachelor's degrees in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Sociology. I believe in meeting students where they are, building confidence while encouraging steady growth. I especially enjoy working with elementary students, helping them develop strong math foundations and the confidence to tackle new challenges. I offer tutoring for K–12 reading and math online and in person in the Anna Maria area, as well as at Central Library, Palmetto Library, South Manatee Library, and Braden River Library. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy helping students discover their strengths and take ownership of their learning.

Madeleine
I recently completed my 10th year teaching third grade and have dedicated my career to helping students grow academically and build confidence. I hold a bachelor's degree in PreK-Primary Early Childhood Education and a master's degree in Reading Education K-12. I am also certified in K-6 General Education and ESOL and hold a reading endorsement. I specialize in helping students strengthen their reading and literacy skills, particularly those who need extra support as they prepare for the FAST assessment and transition to upper elementary grades. I offer K–12 reading and English tutoring, as well as K–5 math support. I am available during the day and after school at Braden River. My goal is to help students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
